How to play

The engine plays both sides. When the game pauses on your turn, show it what you would play.

Full play (iPhone and iPad)

Tap one of your checkers. Rings show where it can land, with the number of pips.
Tap a ring to move there. Repeat until your dice are used.
When the dice glow, tap them to submit your play.

Quick play (iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch)

Tap the checker you think the engine moves first. One tap, and you get your grade.

The doubling cube

When the cube comes into play, choose Double or Roll, or Take or Drop. The engine makes the real cube decision for both sides; your answer is graded against it.

Grades

Right: the engine's play. Close: almost as good. Mistake and blunder: a real cost, with blunder the bigger one.

Settings and features

Play mode: hold the dice, or open the ••• menu and choose Play mode, to switch between Full play and Quick play.
GammonGuide Coach: a one-time in-app purchase that adds Why? for every round, Replay and Previous games. Without it, Why? and Replay still work free for your first ten mistakes or blunders. Turn it on in Play mode, or choose GammonGuide Coach in the ••• menu. On Apple Watch, hold the dice.
Opening Drill: in the ••• menu.
Progress: in the ••• menu. "Start over" there erases your games and progress.
Pip count: touch and hold the board.

Questions

Which Apple Watch do I need?

Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later. Earlier models can't run the GammonGuide engine.

I bought Coach. How do I get it on another device?

Sign in to the same Apple Account, open Play mode and tap Restore Purchases. One purchase covers your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds: go to reportaproblem.apple.com.

Do my games sync between devices?

No. Each device keeps its own games and progress, and nothing leaves the device.

Does GammonGuide need an internet connection?

No. Everything runs on your device. Buying or restoring Coach needs a connection to the App Store.
